Machine vision systems from Vision On Line ensure reliable and economical quality control during the production of fans for diesel engines at a global US manufacturer. Decisive factors in the final vision system for this application were a customer-specific front light area illumination from the TLS series by Büchner Lichtsysteme GmbH and an exo183MGE industrial camera from SVS-Vistek, which is particularly suitable for this application due to its high resolution of 20 megapixels, a data rate of up to 120 MB/s via the integrated GigE Vision interface, and the integrated 4-channel power strobe controller.

Plastics have become an integral part of our daily lives. Global production exceeds 380 million tons per year. A significant proportion of these plastics are black. They are chosen for their aesthetics, durability, and functionality in high-demand industries such as automotive manufacturing, electronics, and food packaging. However, black plastics pose a major challenge for recycling due to their light-absorbing properties, which make them “invisible” to conventional recycling processes. This has contributed to the low recycling rate for black plastics, leading to a growing environmental problem. The Specim FX50 hyperspectral camera from Finnish manufacturer Specim is the only hyperspectral camera on the market that covers the entire MWIR spectral range from 2.7 to 5.3 μm. This enables the sorting and recycling of black plastics and makes an important ecological contribution to the environment.

The high speeds at which many industrial processes take place nowadays often leave machine vision systems little time to precisely capture all the necessary information. Rauscher GmbH Bildverarbeitung proves that multi-strobe imaging with sequence function can be a versatile solution in certain cases. Such systems are based on iPulse illumination controllers from iCore, which enable rapid changes between illumination scenarios thanks to precise current pulses of less than 1 μs and currents of up to 200 A. The different LED illuminations are controlled one after the other at very short intervals. Software is used to combine the resulting individual images into an overall image that combines the information from all the images and enables more reliable identification of unwanted object features. This avoids sequential inspections and increases the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of machine vision systems. PS Marcom Services has described the details of this innovative technology in an article that was published as the cover story of the 1/2025 issue of the trade journal Inspect and further magazines.
